Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that uses electrical currents to destroy hair
follicles. At Salon House we commonly use it for clients with grey or blonde hair, all other
hair types can be treated with our Candela Alexandrite Laser Machine.
Here is how Electrolysis works:
Process of Electrolysis Hair Removal:
- Insertion of a Probe: A fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle. This probe serves as an electrode.
- Application of Electrical Current: A small amount of electrical current is delivered to the hair follicle through the probe. The current can be applied in three main ways:
o Galvanic Electrolysis: Direct current (DC) generates a chemical reaction that
destroys the hair follicle.
o Thermolysis: Alternating current (AC) produces heat that damages the
follicle.
o Blend Method: A combination of both galvanic and thermolysis methods.
This method is commonly used at Salon House.
3. Destruction of the Hair Follicle: The electrical energy either destroys the follicle ability to grow hair or causes it to fall out. This is achieved by damaging the cells that are responsible for hair growth.
4. Hair Removal: After the follicle is treated, the hair can be gently removed with
tweezers.
Benefits of Electrolysis:
- Permanent Results: Unlike other hair removal methods (like shaving or waxing), electrolysis is considered permanent because it targets the hair follicle directly.
- Suitable for All Skin and Hair Types: Electrolysis can effectively treat all hair colors and skin types, making it a versatile option.
Considerations:
- Multiple Sessions Required: Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments
sessions are usually necessary to target all hair follicles effectively. - Discomfort: Some clients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, but
this can vary based on individual pain tolerance. - Professional Treatment: important to have electrolysis performed by a licensed
professional to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Overall, electrolysis is a safe and effective method for long-term hair removal.
